The first two guest rooms, The Clover and The Derby, are located above the original stone storehouse built on the property in 1805.

At the end of the hall toward the front of the building and to the left, you will find the third suite, The Julep. This room occupies the second floor of the second structure built on lot 41, a two-story log structure that was originally

built as a side entrance retail shop in the 1820's.

Across the hall from The Julep is The Commons, a comfortably furnished room where guests can gather to socialize and relax at the end of fun filled days full of area equestrian events, wine tasting, antique hunting, and local fine dining.

Staying in The Rooms Up There is like staying in a friend's beautiful home that has an amazing interior design store downstairs, so if you suddenly have a longing for big, fluffy towels, or a sterling silver tray, or a small Turkish carpet, or a tiny brass snail you can just run downstairs and get it. This place is really great - pretty, homey, and so comfortable (especially the bed and the big, fluffy towels). In addition to three well-appointed guest rooms, upstairs features a lovely, little parlor with board games, beverages and snacks - a perfect place for relaxing. There is no TV, but that turned out to be one of the wonderful things about my stay! I loved this place!

We had an amazing time during our stay at the Rooms Up There. The accommodations were incredible everything from the furnishings, to soaps and lotions to the linens and bedding had a refinement that are hard to beat. The inn sits right in the heart of the small town of Marshall. We were able to walk to our wine dinner one evening at Field & Main, which was delicious. The inn has a room for lounging or reading that is always stocked with complimentary coffee, tea, water, sodas and snacks. For each night of your stay you're provided a card that gets you breakfast at the Red Truck Bakery, just a short walk down the street. I highly recommend the inn for your stay in wine country!

My husband and I decided to do a little wine country getaway last weekend and stayed at The Rooms Up There. A couple days before my arrival I received an email stating that I could have a complimentary upgrade if I wanted. I just needed to reply letting them know. That set the tone for a great weekend. The room looked exactly like the pictures and everything was clean and inviting. There were lots of free snacks and drinks. The complimentary Red Truck Bakery breakfast is worth the trip by itself. We'll definitely return. The location is fantastic for visiting dozens of wineries in the area as well.

We recently booked a room here for a weekend wine getaway and absolutely loved it! Our room was upgraded because no one else booked that weekend, and the room was absolutely lovely. Comfortable bed, perfectly decorated, and I especially loved the snacks and water available in the room and common area. We ended up getting engaged on this trip and everything about the weekend was absolutely perfect! We will definitely be back!

...Your place was absolutely lovely and just what I needed! I loved the cozy, relaxed atmosphere, the bed was SO comfortable, the bathroom and shower spacious, and the community snack/coffee area was wonderful. I hope to return next year!

This was such a lovely find!! We were lucky enough to have the whole place to ourselves over the Thanksgiving holiday. It's exactly the home we would have created away from home. Every detail is thoughtfully perfect. An incredible and unexpected place that we can't wait to visit again soon.

If you are coming to Marshall, VA or nearby Middleburg, VA, this is the place to stay. Very comfortable, elegantly appointed and quiet, a tranquil oasis from the stress of DC Metro.

Beautiful, cozy and relaxing! Loved every minute staying there. Relaxed in our room all day. Couldn't have asked for a better experience. Love their partnership with Red Truck Bakery!

Thank you for a most decadent night's sleep. All we wanted...was to dive under a duvet, and boy did this place deliver! We will be patting ourselves on the back for weeks to come that we found this little gem online - and the angels for making it available!

We meet some friends at Field & Main for an awesome wine dinner and decided to stay nearby for the night. We found The Rooms Up There a block away! Dan has a design business downstairs and renovated three rooms upstairs in the 1805 building. We were in the Counting Room on the front of the house which was lovely. There is a common room as well that had coffee, soda, water and some snacks. He also included a light breakfast at a wonderful bakery five minutes walk up the street. This room did have some road nose in the morning but the real problem was some workers for another business that showed up early. Their drilling was an unwelcome alarm clock. That said, when Dan found out, he fully refunded our fee. We plan to visit the area more and will definitely stay there again.

I was searching for special overnight accommodations and finally found "The Rooms Up There" that were going to be opening in a few weeks. I waited and was rewarded! What a treat. History, simplicity, thoughtful design, location and a perfect quick get away from Washington, DC. We met Dan, the owner, who verbally guided us through his property, much of the area and offered a terrific conversation in their living room; we knew that he wanted our stay to be as grand as we hoped it to be. It was a pleasure to tuck-in such a fun place. Yes, I want to visit again and I have suggested to my friends that it is a perfect spot. (I know this sounds too good to be true; try it and you will see it is just right!)

Great place to stay! The accommodations were just as luxurious as described and even better than many upscale hotels I have stayed at. The inn has a common room with complimentary coffee, tea, water, sodas and snacks. For breakfast, each guest is provided a card that gets you breakfast (coffee, pastry, breakfast sandwich, juice, etc) at the amazing Red Truck Bakery, just a block down the street. The inn sits right in the middle of the small town of Marshall and is walking distance to great restaurants like Field & Main. I highly recommend The Rooms Up There for anyone visiting this area! -April 11th, 2019

This was a really cute place to stay for the night. We were attending a party in a nearby town so did not spend much time in our room but it was beautifully furnished with lots of nice little touches. The common area had snacks tea coffee water and soda. It was very quiet and parking was easy. The little town is cute too!

My husband and I recently stayed at The Rosemary after I found it on my hotel search in the Marshall, VA area. We had plans the next day to see a friend of mine before continuing on our road trip, and this was located just down the street from where we were meeting. Leah from The Rosemary was fantastic - she and I communicated efficiently, our room was paid before I even checked in, all of our check-in information was emailed ahead of time, and she also left us a lovely note with a bottle of wine and glasses for when we arrived. I'm pretty sure we were the only ones there (we never saw or heard anyone else on our Thursday night stay), so it was lovely, private and somewhat secluded. Our room was beautiful and comfortable

We really enjoyed our stay at The Rooms Up There. The room was clean and equip with everything we needed for our short stay, and it felt very "COVID" safe since we were able to enter directly without encountering other guests. It was especially nice to have the breakfast voucher for the Red Truck Bakery. I would highly recommend this bed and breakfast if you are visiting the area.
